Our Mission

The goal of Harold Shepley & Associates, LLC is to keep people and businesses out of bankruptcy, if at all possible.  We do this by providing quality assistance in eliminating debt and restoring credit.  We have established six divisions within our law firm to accomplish this goal.

  1. Bankruptcy
  2. Debt Negotiation
  3. Mortgage Modification
  4. Family Law
  5. Estate and Trust
  6. Litigation

Our Bankruptcy Division is made up of knowledgeable Pennsylvania bankruptcy lawyers who handle personal bankruptcy cases across the state of Pennsylvania.  To save you time and expenses, much of our work is done through the mail and over the phone.  In-office consultations are available upon request.

Through our Debt Negotiation Division we work with individuals in all 50 states to reduce the total repayment amount on unsecured debt and ease the burden on hurting people.  This service is outside the scope of legal representation in states other than Pennsylvania, but the overall results are much the same.

The Mortgage Modification Division seeks to assist homeowners who can no longer afford their current mortgage payments due to financial hardship and burdensome ARM loan adjustments.  We also assist clients who are unable to keep their home and need to arrange alternative release options, such as a short sale/deed in lieu for foreclosure.

Our Family Law Division is established to defend victims affected by divorce.  It is our goal to bring hope to difficult family situations.  We use legal representation as well as compassion to manage these affairs with the care and attention needed.  Our goal is to bring these matters to a peaceful and manageable resolution.

The Estate and Trust Division works to establish the necessary structures, documents, and procedures to protect your interest in the event that you are unable to do so yourself.  This is done by managing estates through trusts, wills, living wills and powers of attorney.

Our Litigation Division is focused on defending the rights of those who have been victimized by the credit industry.  For residents of the state of Pennsylvania we bring legal action against lenders for predatory lending practices, unfair debt collection practices, and violations of the FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act), the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act), and the FCEUA (Fair Credit Extension Uniformity Act).  In addition, we offer legal services for individuals who have been sued for non-payment in the hopes of bringing their situation to a favorable result.

Above all else, the services we provide are delivered with care and compassion.  This is for two separate yet related reasons.  First is Attorney Shepley’s devotion to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Additionally, Attorney Shepley knows how unpleasant the bankruptcy process can be, having experienced it himself.  We work tirelessly to ensure that no individual ever has to go through the bankruptcy process unless absolutely necessary.  The effort of this work is seen in our outstanding Better Business Bureau rating.   Our hope is that we can offer effective solutions to enable you to live a life that is free from debt.

Meet the Attorneys

Harold W. Shepley, Esq.

Attorney Harold W. Shepley graduated from Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania. As a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, he developed and chaired the Chapter's first community service committee, which earned national distinction in its very first year of development. He was also a founding member of the fraternity's judicial board.

In addition, Attorney Shepley served as Community Service Chairman for the entire College. During his tenure he developed the "umbrella" system currently used by the United Way. This system of organization was promoted and explained in a county-wide forum of civic leaders and reshaped the way many charitable organizations currently operate.

In an effort to provide affordable legal protection to as many families as possible, he chose to promote Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. immediately upon graduating from law school. He quickly became an Executive Director of the organization and the first attorney to accomplish this goal.

Since 1999, Attorney Shepley has devoted his practice to helping individuals, families and businesses overcome the burdens of financial distress. He resides in Somerset, PA with his two children and is an active member in the Somerset Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
